| Although John Bratby painted an array of subjects during his career, he was most recognized for his scenes of domestic life painted during the 1950's. During this time, Bratby was a member of the Kitchen Sink School. He boosted his own reputation through self-promotion and he also wrote a novel titled Breakdown in 1960 and a book on Stanley Spencer in 1970. |
