| Born in London in 1925, Sandra Blow's innovative approach to painting during the 1950's ensured her position as one of the leaders of the post-war British abstract movement. She studied at St.Martin's and then the Royal Academy Schools, before leaving for Italy, where under the influence of mentor Alberto Burri she developed her own brand of reductive abstract painting. Sandra Blow has enjoyed success both in London and around the world, including a solo exhibition at the RA in 1994. She died on 22nd August 2006. |
